House of the Dragon S1

An attempt to catalogue thoughts and treat a show as “a text.” Ill fated. But the show was cool.

“We Light the Way”

Can a TV show be considered a “text?” In the English and American Studies departments, they certainly are. The word “text” can be applied to basically anything. A video game, an essay, a piece of meat in the freezer, an aquarium.

Whatever the case, things that I’m watching are going to live in the Reading section of my personal website, my digital garden — my everlasting gift to the world, that will continue on in my stead. How high and mighty of me to go there. To care.

“I am the crown, Sir Christin.”
- Princess Rhyneira

  • This show doesn’t have the heart of its predecessor. The memorable and huge personalities. It has a sensitive and ineffectual king.
  • The timeline moves very quickly. But the show itself is slow.

“Is it not better to live in peace than to have songs sung of you after you are dead?”

  • I like Daemon. The weird uncle who pops up out of nowhere.
  • The beginning of the royal wedding feasts, aka. The jocks always get the girl in the end. And things always end badly in a GoT wedding.
  • Which they did, as Sir Christin absolutely wails away on Lenore’s beau – and we get a classic partially broken open gory head shot.
